Become a bone marrow donor and save a life
The search is on to find a bone marrow donor for Philip Felice of New York, who was diagnosed with lymphoma in 2007 and has since undergone chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. Doctors say Felice is in need of a bone marrow donor and that men between the ages of 20-25 who are of Sicilian ancestry would be his best match.
Felice’s friends and family ask that anyone who meets the above description register as a potential donor. Visit www.dkmsamericas.org to find out how you can register as a bone marrow donor.

Cataudella Family

The IWL adopted the Cataudella Family of Marlboro, NJ for Easter 2010.
Pictured are Salvina, Carmelo, Mary, Filippo and Pina Maria.

Nine months after Mary and Peter were married, Peter, who was born in Siracusa, Sicily, was a victim of a hit and run accident which left him disabled. During the course of the next sixteen years and after 25 surgeries, the doctor finally advised him that amputating his leg would provide a better quality of life. He took his doctors advice and was subsequently fitted with a prosthesis. Two years ago, while working as an HVAC technician, he was electroducted and died. The League chose to assist the family by donating a gift certificate to their local supermarket.

"Losing our dad may have made money tight on our familiy, expecially during the holidays, but thank you for being so generous," Filippo Cataudella writes in a thank you note.

"Welcome to Holland” a poem written by Emily Perl Kingsley and read by Colleen Caputo refering to her daughter, Brianna, who has Down Syndrome.

Meet Carmela Ottaviano - an IWL recipient from Brooklyn, NY who was diagnosed with MS five years ago.  We have been helping her with transportation to and from treatment and just recently purchased a NuStep exercizer for her home so she can use it every day to strengthen her legs.  Her goal is to walk unassisted.  Click here to view video
